There is always something to do in Montclair. If it isn't food or shopping, how about the many cultural opportunities. Places like The Montclair Art Museum, the Israel Crane House Museum or the Van Vleck House and Gardens. Montclair has a few movie theaters, some of which feature independent and foreign films. Or what about a night of concerts, new or old at the Wellmont Theatre?
PARKS & REC
nMontclair has plenty of opportunities for outdoor entertainment and recreation. Within the town 18 recreational parks are tennis courts, playgrounds, swimming pools, a bird sanctuary, basketball courts and baseball diamonds. There are nature trails, ice skating ponds and the Montclair Ice Arena.
nMountainside Park is home to the famous Presby Iris Gardens. The garden features approximately 4,000 kinds of iris and some 30,000 individual plants. Do not miss the 121 acre Brookdale Park which features fitness trails, playgrounds, and playing fields. There is more green space than you will know what to do with.


SCHOOLS
Montclair is also known for its school system. The Montclair Public Schools include seven elementary schools, three middle schools and Montclair High School.

nOutside of the public school system you will also find parochial and private schools, such as Montclair Kimberly Academy, L'acordaire Academy and Montclair Cooperative schools, among others. For higher education Montclair State University sits on the north side of town.
TRANSPORTATION
nOne of Montclair's many lifestyle charms is the proximity to New York City. Only 12 miles from Manhattan it is surrounded by various routes giving it access to the city as well as Newark International Airport. Just on the north side lies Rte. 46 and Rte. 3 which easily lead to the Garden State Parkway and I-280.
NJ Transit and DeCamp buses to and from the Port Authority Bus Terminal in NYC and Newark's Penn Station are available from early morning to late in the evening.
One of the great advantages of living in a Train line town is that the NJ Transit train can arrive to Penn Station in Midtown Manhattan in about 50 minutes. Frequent weekday train service is available to Hoboken and NYC Penn Station at the Bay Street Train Station. Montclair has 5 different train stations, each one with its own booming town/business district. The locations of the train stations are: Montclair State University, Mountainside Train Station, Upper Montclair, Watchung Plaza, Walnut Street and Bay Street. All stations offer either direct or non-direct train lines.
