Architecture
Even though Glen Ridge measures at only 1.3 sq. miles, it exhibits more historical character than many other larger communities. 85% of the Essex County Borough is listed as a historic district on the NJ and National Registers of Historic Places.
The gorgeous homes span the architectural gamut, from simple farmhouses that have since been altered or expanded, to Victorians, Queen Annes, Federal-style, turn of the century brick and stone mansions, and finally you will find a handful of mid-century split levels and ranches. Some of the Glen Ridge architectural legacy comes from architects such as Frank Lloyd Wright, Stanford White and John Russell Pope.
Adding to the town's charm are more than 650 gaslights that illuminate the boroughs tree lined streets. Only about 3,000 gaslights remain in operation in the United States.
GLEN RIDGE SCHOOLS
One of the biggest draws to Glen Ridge is the reputation held by its schools. The Glen Ridge School District has consistently ranked among the best in the state. The district provides two lower elementary schools (Forest & Linden) offering grades K-2nd., one upper elementary (Ridgewood Avenue School) offering grades 3-6, and Glen Ridge High School which holds grades 7-12.

PARKS & RECREATION
Glen Ridge has several parks and field locations. Carteret Park features a children's playground, regulation baseball diamond, softball/youth baseball diamond, soccer/lacrosse field, floor hockey rink and field house. More ball fields and play grounds are located at Forest Avenue Field, Sherman Avenue Field and Clay Field, which also has a paddleball court. Hurrell Field has ball fields plus a quarter-mile running track and basketball court. The Glen Ridge Community Pool is a great place to cool off in the hot summer months.
TRANSPORATION
Glen Ridge is a beautiful small town located just 13 miles outside of New York City. This makes the town very attractive to NYC commuters. Glen Ridge neighboring towns are Montclair, Bloomfield and East Orange. Just outside of the town lie 1-80, Rte.46 and Rte.3, the Garden State Parkway, and finally route 21 is just a few minutes to the east. These major roads allow access to major highways with easy access to New York State, Pennsylvania and Newark International Airport.
TRAIN AND BUSES
NJ Transit and DeCamp buses to and from the Port Authority Bus Terminal in NYC and Newark's Penn Station are available from early morning to late in the evening.
One of the great advantages of living in a Train line town is that the NJ Transit train can arrive to Penn Station in Midtown Manhattan in about 35 minutes. Frequent weekday train service is available to Hoboken and NYC Penn Station at the Ridgewood Avenue Train Station. Weekend service to both stops is limited but available as well.
JITNEY
Glen Ridge provides commuter a Jitney Service that drops them off at the Ridgewood Avenue Train Station.
